Are you looking for a list of Pantry staples? Stocking up in case of an emergency? Are you looking for items to put in your pantry because of the Corona Virus?
Here is my list of some pantry staples that are great to have in your house.
Note this is not medical advice. This is just advice from a mom who likes to keep a well-stocked pantry. Don’t hoard items and nothing wrong with having a few back-up items so you don’t have to run to the grocery store this week.

Inventory
Take an inventory of what you have. It’s always a good idea to just figure out what you have in the house. Clear out things that are expired or a mystery in your fridge, freezer and pantry. Is it covered in freezer burn and you don’t know what it is? You can throw it out.
Grains
Don’t go crazy and hoard but it’s never a bad idea to have an extra box of your favourite pasta, rice, rolled oats for oatmeal, quinoa or egg noodles. If your child loves a certain rice, grab an extra! I love oatmeal with peanut butter, fruits like frozen blueberries, or Epicure topper like this.

Protein
Tuna, Salmon, Canned beans like kidney beans, black beans and lentils. Tofu last a long time in the fridge as well. Beans and lentils can be into lots of delicious things like chili, fajitas and more.
Cooking Oil
Don’t forget to have a back up olive oil or avocado on hand as well. I’m a big fan of a good bottle of olive oil.
Vegetables
Canned veggies are always good to have on hand or if you have room in the freezer an extra bag. Canned tomatoes are my favourite! You can make chili, pasta sauce, roast whole tomatoes, soups.
Fruits
A few frozen fruits in cans are always good for desserts. My kids love pineapple and I like having canned peaches too! I love frozen fruits and if you can buy organic that is even better!
Dry goods
Don’t forget to have some basics of dry goods like flour, corn meal, brown sugar, and baking soda.
Hard Cheese
Hard cheese lasts a long time and great for things like pasta.
