Epicure Consultant in Nakusp, British Columbia

We are featuring Sheila became a consultant because I love to cook and share my creations with others. I love taking pictures of the food I use to make delicious meals and then post the pictures on social media with fun hashtags to share with my family and friends. I jokingly started #cookingwithsheila and my friends on social media seemed to like it so I continued doing it, more for myself than for them as I had a lot of fun doing it. I am a Certified Personal Trainer and I have my diploma in Personal Nutrition but in 2011 I sold my business as I had started working in Health Care in 2009 and doing both was hard. I had been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2005 and I needed a job that had benefits to help me with the cost of medications. I had a few setbacks with the UC but thankfully I was able to get into remission in 2010. Also, in 2011, my husband was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, so I had to learn a whole new way of cooking with unfamiliar products. It was, at times, expensive and time-consuming. I never really lost my love for working out or eating healthy but at times, life would take a few detours and I would find myself not eating well or staying active so I would get myself back on track and I would try to get others to join me. In March of 2020, I came out of remission with my Ulcerative Colitis and had the hardest 6 months of my life. I was so sick I could barely eat, I lost almost 20 pounds, my hair was falling out, I could barely work or even leave my house some days. In August of 2020, the new medication started working and I started feeling much better. I knew that I had to help my body get healthy again, so I started with my food.
In December of 2020, my parents’ neighbour gave me some Epicure products and I was immediately hooked! I had heard about Epicure and had even tried it years ago but was not super familiar with the products, so I started researching the company. My job in Health Care is only part time and my two other Administrative jobs are not very many hours either so I had been looking for something that I could do from home, especially when I am having a hard day with my illness. Something that I would enjoy doing, something that I could share with others. Epicure is the perfect fit for me! I can share my creations with people and feel good about the ingredients in the products. That is so important to me. Food is medicine. But so many people do not cook at home as it can be time-consuming, so they end up eating a lot of processed food. It doesn’t need to be time consuming and I am so excited to share Epicure with others and add my own “personality” to the cooking classes.
What is your favourite Epicure product?
I’m trying all the products and love the guacamole dip!
What do you like to do for fun?
I love sports, even though I am not very good at any of them. I love to golf with my friends, ride my bike, play slo-pitch, hockey and I like to curl. I like to hike with my friends and my faithful fur baby, Hunter, a 9 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Camping and boating is always on the top of my list too.
Tell me a fun fact about you.
I learned to skate and play hockey when I was 43!

Where do you see yourself in 6 months?
